Stephen Figoni,
born in California in 1981, studied guitar at the University of Dayton, Ohio, under the guidance of Jim McCutcheon, and graduated “With Distinction” with a degree in classical guitar performance at the University of Missouri - Kansas City with Douglas Niedt. In Italy, he furthered his studies with Piero Bonaguri, obtaining a diploma with the highest mark of 10/10 at the Conservatorio “G. B. Martini” di Bologna. He has attended advanced performance classes with Bonaguri and with Oscar Ghiglia, Elena Papandreou and Massimo Lonardi at the Incontri Chitarristici in Gargnano. He has collaborated with a wide variety of artists and organizations: musicians, painters, sculptors, poets, actors, priests, music associations, hospitals, prisons, universities and schools, both in Italy and in the United States. He recorded music for the soundtrack of the independent film La Terra Buona (directed by Emanuele Caruso, music by Remo Baldi), and has made the English translation of the book Reflections on the Art of Playing the Piano by the Italian pianist Giulio Giurato (ed. Bonomo). He is presently guitar professor at the Liceo Artistico e Musicale Statale di Forlì, plays a guitar made by Gabriele Lodi in Carpi, and lives in Bologna with his wife and three children.
